The annual Digital Humanities at Oxford Summer School (DHOxSS) ran this year from 2nd to 6th July at Keble College Oxford.

The Summer School offers training to anyone with an interest in the Digital Humanities, including academics at all career stages, students, project managers, and people who work in IT, libraries, cultural heritage, publishing and other industries.

How it works

 

Anyone may register, there is no application process and we do not select or screen participants, or require any previous qualifications (however you should check your chosen workshop for details of any prior technical knowledge which is necessary).

 

Participants follow one workshop strand throughout the week, supplementing their training with up to three expert guest lectures.

​

All workshop strands will be held at Keble College Oxford. We have reserved some accommodation at Keble for participants from Sunday to Thursday - you can book this during your registration process at an additional cost of £70 per night - see our Accommodation page.

Location

​

Keble College is located in the centre of Oxford. Evening meals are not included in the registration fee, however you will find a variety of eating options (cafes, historic pubs, takeaways and restaurants) within a few minutes walk of the College. Workshop teaching and additional lectures will mainly take place in the Sloane Robinson Building (one workshop will take place in the Pusey Quad). Morning and afternoon refreshment breaks will be in the ARCO Building. Lunches will be served in the Dining Hall. All rooms apart from the Pusey Quad are fully accessible.

Timetable

 

On Monday and Friday there will be opening and closing keynotes. The rest of the week will comprise teaching in your workshop group, plus some additional guest lectures. Lunch is served each day at Keble College.

 

There are also optional evening events (some at additional cost) available on a first come, first served basis.

 

Registration will take place at approximately 8.15 to 9.15am on Monday 2nd July, followed by the official start of the Summer School with our opening keynote. The Summer School will end at approximately 4pm on Friday 6th July – there is an optional informal pub trip that evening.

 

You are responsible for making your own travel arrangements to and from the event. You can also book accommodation at Keble College through the online shop when you register (first come, first served).

 

How to register

 

Unless you are applying for a bursary, you should use the University of Oxford's Online Shop to book and pay for your Summer School place, accommodation and any social events you want to attend. You will need to set up an account with the Online Shop and pay by debit/credit card. Provisional bookings cannot be made.

• That you can bring a suitable laptop if your workshop requires one
